Each film genre has its individual conventions, these conventions throughout a film, do the job of indicating the genre to the audience.
Here are examples of different genres, their desired effect and their conventions.

-transport the audience
-allow the audience to use their imagination

-technology gadgets
-imaginative setting

Romance
Romantic film are designed to make the audience:
-escape real life
-feel good
-become emotional
-become attached to charcters

-a couples journey through hardships
-love story
-happy ending
